Month 8 - Not Pimples - Blog 21

This is an update to some of my older "pimple" blogs.

A while back I had posted something on my blog page and also on the various from bald to bold internet sites, that wasn’t quite accurate.  I was talking about this irritation on my head, which of course was accurate, but what was inaccurate is what was causing the irritation.  I called it a pimple on top of my head, and a lot of people commented and wanted more information about these pimples that occur, that I said occurred after my surgery.

I’m here to tell you they aren’t pimples.  But they are small red bumps.  What’s causing the irritation that is on my head, is an ingrown hair below the bump.  So I decided to come back to the hair club medical group office today and find out more information and get more research so I can accurately respond back to you who have had so much interest in this .

So I was reminded by the staff here that we took some pictures during the time I had this irritation with this really great tool that Hair club offers.  It’s a camera, a microscopic want camera, and they take this camera and put it on your hair, head, and take a picture, and it gives you a microscopic view, as you can see here on the screen what was causing the irritation.

There’s a red bump here, and below the bump is an ingrown hair, that’s causing the irritation, it was very uncomfortable. But the good news is the ingrown hair does eventually pop through the skin which shows that my transplanted hair is growing... and there is also good news on how to remove this irritation.  A couple different ways.  Mainly has to do with proper cleansing.  When shampooing and a conditioning, leave the conditioner in, but there is a particular product, when rinsing, called hibiclense, which was given to me by the hair club medical group office.  It isn’t a prescription, nothing like that.  It’s an over the counter that they gave to me here.  That I put on my scalp during my shampoo and condition process and that helps to cleanse my skin.  And that is removing those little red bumps and allowing the hair to not be in grown and to pop through the skin.  And also a very important thing to do is to take advantage is to take advantage of the post EXT program. Because that program, which happens here at the office, does give me a proper cleansing, a proper heat treatment, scalp massage once a month.  And that helps immensely with the cleansing of my scalp, and that removes these little red bumps and lessens the opportunity of ingrown hairs.  So – that is the latest research, they are not pimples, a lot of us are happy to hear know that now, they are just little red bumps that these ingrown hairs, and most importantly something can be done about it.
